Jesus was crucified between 2 theives; He died for sinful mankind. The soldiers gambled for Jesus' clothes, unkowingly they fulfilled Old Testament prophesy. There was a group of dedicated bystanders to the very end. The Creator showed his love for his mother by asking John to care for her. in His great agony he still put others first rather than wallowing in his own misery. I thirst: Jesus was in agonizing pain and the scriptures were deliberately being fulfilled. Jesus cried "It is finished" The spear; and blood and water flowing: The water symbolizes the washing of regeneration, the blood cleanses us from sin.
