Summary: Matthew 18; Parable of the unforgiving servant. Keeping track of offenses is not forgiving. Forgiving is putting away and discarding rather than hanging on to offenses. It is a deliberate choice. An unforgiving spirit will hurt oneself the most of anybody involved. Offenses will happen, how easily am I offended? Be prepared for offenses and cultivate a forgiving attitude in preparation for when they come. God's forgiveness is conditional on us choosing to forgive others. Each one of us is quite capable of being an offense, we need to cultivate a spirit that does not bring offenses. A forgiving heart is a blessing to God, others around us and to ourselves.
