Summary: Though many remember Samson for his failures in the Book of Judges, the Bible honors him in Hebrews 11 as a man of faith because he ultimately served God’s purpose. From the beginning, “the Spirit of the Lord began to move him,” and even his desire for a Philistine wife was used by God as an occasion to confront Israel’s enemies. Samson was raised up to begin delivering Israel from Philistine oppression, and despite his weaknesses, he trusted God in the end and fulfilled his calling. His life reminds us that God can use imperfect people who respond to His Spirit, and we too are called to live for Him, obey His will, and walk in faith.
