Summary: Watching and praying is a common theme through the New Testament. How do you connect watchfulness to your prayer life? The word watch is a military term. Are we in a battle? What are we watching for? Jesus in the Garden was under anguish and felt like His soul was unto death, and He asked His disciples to watch. Jesus was in a battle! If Jesus lost this battle, everything was at stake! What other reason to pray? What battle are you in? Are you watching and praying? There is a battle in each of our lives, and Jesus calls us to watch and pray.... Matt. 26:38 ..."watch with me." Verse 41 says it again..."Watch and Pray.... Men of war are always alert to their surroundings and they are praying that their lives would be spared. The Christian is in a spiritual war, and we need to be doing the same thing...watch and pray.
