Summary: Satan is very desirous that we lose focus in our Christian lives. If we can be satisfied with not aiming toward a goal, he has us where he wants us. King Solomon started his reign with a strong desire to lead Israel in the ways of the Lord, following the steps of David his father. At some point, his focus shifted to the acquisition of wealth and power, and he lost the blessing of God on his life. This also brought division to the nation of Israel. If we give less than 100% of our commitment to our spiritual walk, we cannot expect to have the power of God to overcome sin. "Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man" (Ecclesiastes 12:13).
